Activating the Battery
Battery posts, terminals, and related accessories
contain lead and lead compounds, chemicals
known to the State of California to cause cancer
and reproductive harm. Wash hands after
handling.
Warning
The factory ships the traction unit with a dry battery.
Purchase bulk electrolyte with 1.260 specific gravity from
a local battery supply outlet.
1. Remove the wing nut and bolt securing the battery
clamp and strip (under the clamp) and remove the
clamp and strip (Fig. 3).

2. Gently push the hydraulic hoses aside and lift the
battery out of the chassis.
Danger
Battery electrolyte contains sulfuric acid which is
a deadly poison and causes severe burns.
Do not drink electrolyte and avoid contact with
skin, eyes or clothing. Wear safety glasses to
shield your eyes and rubber gloves to protect
your hands.
Fill the battery where clean water is always
available for flushing the skin.
3. Remove filler caps from the battery.
4. Slowly pour electrolyte into each cell until the
electrolyte level is up to the lower part of the tube
(Fig. 4).
