Operation
Note:Determinetheleftandrightsidesofthemachinefromthenormaloperatingposition.
Important:Beforeoperating,checkthefuel,oil,andcoolantlevel;removedebrisfromthetractionunit;testthe
parkingbrake,andcheckthetirepressure.Also,ensurethattheareaisclearofpeopleanddebris.Youshouldalso
knowandhavemarkedthelocationsofallutilitylines.
CAUTION
Youcouldfalloffoftheplatformandbeseriouslyinjuredduringoperation.
Donotmovethecontrolleversunlessyouarestandingwithbothfeetontheplatformandyourhands
areholdingthehandles.
FillingtheFuelTank
Theenginerunsonclean,freshdieselfuelwithaminimum
cetaneratingof40.Purchasefuelinquantitiesthatcanbe
usedwithin30daystoensurefuelfreshness.
Usesummergradedieselfuel(No.2-D)attemperatures
above20°F(-7°C)andwintergradedieselfuel(No.1-D
orNo.1-D/2-Dblend)below20°F(-7°C).Useofwinter
gradedieselfuelatlowertemperaturesprovideslowerash
pointandpourpointcharacteristics,allowingeasierstartsand
lesseningthechancesofchemicalseparationofthefueldue
tolowertemperatures.
Useofsummergradedieselfuelabove20°F(-7°C)will
contributetowardlongerlifeofthefuelpumpcomponents.
Important:Donotusekeroseneorgasolineinplaceof
dieselfuel.Failuretoobservethiscautionwilldamage
theengine.
1.Parkthetractionunitonalevelsurface,lowerthe
loaderarms,andstoptheengine.
2.Removethekeyandallowtheenginetocool.
3.Cleanaroundthefueltankcapandremovethecap.
4.Fillthetanktoaboutoneinchbelowthetopofthe
tank,notthellerneck,withdieselfuel.
DANGER
Undercertainconditions,dieselfuelandfuel
vaporsarehighlyammableandexplosive.A
reorexplosionfromfuelcanburnyouand
othersandcancausepropertydamage.
Useafunnelandllthefueltankoutdoors,
inanopenarea,whentheengineisoffand
iscold.Wipeupanyfuelthatspills.
Donotllthefueltankcompletelyfull.
Addfueltothefueltankuntilthelevelis
1/4to1/2inch(6to13mm)belowthe
bottomofthellerneck.Thisemptyspace
inthetankallowsthefueltoexpand.
Neversmokewhenhandlingfuel,andstay
awayfromanopenameorwherefuel
fumesmaybeignitedbyaspark.
Storefuelinaclean,safety-approved
containerandkeepthecapinplace.
5.Installthefueltankcap.Wipeupanyfuelthatmay
havespilled.
Note:Ifpossible,llthefueltankaftereachuse.Thiswill
minimizepossiblebuildupofcondensationinsidethefuel
tank.

1.Stoptheengineandremovethekey.
2.Opentherearaccesscover.
3.Turnthedrainvalveuntilthewaterrunsoutofthe
lter(
Figure13).
