1.Removethebatteryfromthemachine;referto
RemovingtheBattery.
Important:Neverllthebatterywithdistilled
waterwhilethebatteryisinstalledinthemachine.
Electrolytecouldbespilledonotherpartsand
causecorrosion.
2.Cleanthetopofthebatterywithapapertowel.
3.Removetheventcapsfromthebattery(Figure41).
4.Slowlypourdistilledwaterintoeachbatterycelluntil
theelectrolytelevelisuptotheUpperline(Figure41)
onthebatterycase.
Important:Donotoverllthebatterybecause
electrolyte(sulfuricacid)cancausesevere
corrosionanddamagetothechassis.
5.Waitvetotenminutesafterllingthebatterycells.
Adddistilledwater,ifnecessary,untiltheelectrolyte
levelisuptotheUpperline(Figure41)onthebattery
case.
6.Installthebatteryventcaps.
ChargingtheBattery
WARNING
Chargingthebatteryproducesgassesthatcan
explode.
Neversmokenearthebatteryandkeepsparksand
amesawayfrombattery.
Important:Alwayskeepthebatteryfullycharged
(1.265specicgravity).Thisisespeciallyimportantto
preventbatterydamagewhenthetemperatureisbelow
32°F(0°C).
1.Removethebatteryfromthechassis;refertoRemoving
theBattery.
2.Checktheelectrolytelevel;refertoCheckingthe
ElectrolyteLevel.
3.Makesurethellercapsareinstalledinbattery.
Connecta3to4ampbatterychargertothebattery
posts.Chargethebatteryatarateof3to4amperes
for4to8hours(12volts).Donotoverchargethe
battery.
4.Whenthebatteryisfullycharged,unplugthecharger
fromtheelectricaloutlet,thendisconnectthecharger
leadsfromthebatteryposts(Figure42).
5.Installthebatteryontothemachineandconnectthe
batterycables,refertoInstallingtheBattery.
Note:Donotrunthemachinewiththebattery
disconnected,electricaldamagemayoccur.
