3.Inspectthenewlter(s)fordamagebylookinginto
thelterwhileshiningabrightlightontheoutsideof
thelter.Holesinthelterwillappearasbrightspots.
Inspecttheelementfortears,anoilylm,ordamageto
therubberseal.Ifthelterisdamageddonotuseit.
4.Ifyouarereplacingthesafetylter,carefullyslidethe
newlterintothelterbody(Figure31).
Important:Topreventenginedamage,always
operatetheenginewithbothairltersandcover
installed.
5.Carefullyslidetheprimarylteroverthesafetylter
(Figure31).Ensurethatitisfullyseatedbypushingon
theouterrimofthelterwhileinstallingit.
Important:Donotpressonthesoftinsidearea
ofthelter.
6.Installtheaircleanercoverwiththedustcaporiented
asshowninFigure31andsecurethelatches.
ServicingtheEngineOil
ServiceInterval:Aftertherst8hours—Changetheengine
oil.
Beforeeachuseordaily—Checkthe
engineoillevel.
Every100hours—Changetheengineoil.
Every200hours—Changetheoillter.
Note:Changetheoilmorefrequentlywhentheoperating
conditionsareextremelydustyorsandy.

CrankcaseCapacity:58ounces(1.7liter)withthelter

ChangingtheOil
1.Starttheengineandletitrunveminutes.Thiswarms
theoilsoitdrainsbetter.
2.Parkthemachinesothatthedrainsideisslightlylower
thantheoppositesidetoensurethattheoildrains
completely.
3.Lowerthegrinder.
4.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
5.Placeapanbelowthedrainhose.Rotatetheoildrain
valvetoallowoiltodrain(Figure34).
