5.Fillthecrankcasewiththepropertypeofnewoil;
refertoServicingtheEngineOil.
6.Runtheengineforabout3minutes,stoptheengine,
andcheckforoilleaksaroundtheoillteranddrain
valve.
7.Checktheengineoillevelandaddoilifneeded.
8.Wipeupanyspilledoil.
ServicingtheSparkPlug
ServiceInterval:Every100hours—Checkthespark
plugs.
Ensurethattheairgapbetweenthecenterandside
electrodesiscorrectbeforeinstallingthesparkplug.
Useasparkplugwrenchforremovingandinstallingthe
sparkplugandagappingtool/feelergaugetocheckand
adjusttheairgap.Installanewsparkplugifnecessary.

0.030inch(0.75mm)
RemovingtheSparkPlug
1.Lowertheboomandsettheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug(Figure37).

4.Cleanaroundthesparkplugtopreventdirtfrom
fallingintotheengineandpotentiallycausing
damage.
Note:Theheatshieldmayinterfereontheright
side;removeitifnecessaryandreplaceitwhen
nished.
5.Removethesparkplugandthemetalwasher.
CheckingtheSparkPlug
1.Lookatthecenterofthesparkplug(Figure38).
Ifyouseelightbrownorgrayontheinsulator,the
engineisoperatingproperly.Ablackcoatingonthe
insulatorusuallymeansthattheaircleanerisdirty.
2.Ifneeded,cleanthesparkplugwithawirebrushto
removecarbondeposits.

Important:Alwaysreplacethesparkplugwhen
ithaswornelectrodes,anoilylmonit,orhas
cracksintheporcelain.
3.Checkthegapbetweenthecenterandsideelectrodes
(Figure38).Bendthesideelectrode(Figure38)if
thegapisnotcorrect.
InstallingtheSparkPlug
1.Installthesparkplugandthemetalwasher.Ensure
thattheairgapissetcorrectly.
2.Tightenthesparkplugto16ft-lb(22N-m).
3.Connectthewiretothesparkplug(Figure38).
