andcheckforoilleaksaroundtheoillteranddrain

8.Wipeupanyspilledoil.

ServiceInterval:Every100hours—Checkthesparkplugs.
Ensurethattheairgapbetweenthecenterandsideelectrodes
iscorrectbeforeinstallingthesparkplug.Useasparkplug
wrenchforremovingandinstallingthesparkpluganda
gappingtool/feelergaugetocheckandadjusttheairgap.
Installanewsparkplugifnecessary.

RemovingtheSparkPlug
1.Lowertheboomandsettheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug(
Figure38).

4.Cleanaroundthesparkplugtopreventdirtfromfalling
intotheengineandpotentiallycausingdamage.
Note:Theheatshieldmayinterfereontherightside;
removeitifnecessaryandreplaceitwhennished.
5.Removethesparkplugandthemetalwasher.
CheckingtheSparkPlug
1.Lookatthecenterofthesparkplug(Figure39).Ifyou
seelightbrownorgrayontheinsulator,theengineis
operatingproperly.Ablackcoatingontheinsulator
usuallymeansthattheaircleanerisdirty.
2.Ifneeded,cleanthesparkplugwithawirebrushto
removecarbondeposits.
