ServiceInterval:Every100hours—Checkthehydraulic
linesforleaks,loosettings,kinked
lines,loosemountingsupports,wear,
weather,andchemicaldeterioration
andrepairifnecessary.
Every1,500hours/Every2years
(whichevercomesrst)—Replaceall
movinghydraulichoses.
WARNING
Hydraulicuidescapingunderpressurecan
penetrateskinandcauseinjury.Fluidinjectedinto
theskinmustbesurgicallyremovedwithinafew
hoursbyadoctorfamiliarwiththisformofinjury
organgrenemayresult.
Keepyourbodyandhandsawayfrompin
holeleaksornozzlesthatejecthighpressure
hydraulicuid.
Usecardboardorpapertondhydraulicleaks,
neveruseyourhands.
TrencherMaintenance
ReplacingtheDiggingTeeth
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Checkthe
conditionofthediggingteethand
replaceanythatarewornordamaged.
Duetothehighamountofwearplacedonthedigging
teeth,youwillneedtoreplacethemperiodically.
Toreplaceasingletooth,removetheboltssecuringthe
toothtoremoveit,theninstallanewtoothinthesame
position.Torquetheboltssecuringtheteethto27to33
ft-lb(37to45N-m).
CheckingandAdjustingthe
DiggingChainandBoom
ServiceInterval:Every25hours
Checkeachlinkinthechainforexcessivewear,such
aslinksthatwillnolongerholdteeth.
Inspectthebottomoftheboomforwear
Withthetrencherparalleltotheground,ensure
thatthereare1-1/2to2-1/2inches(3.8to6.3cm)
betweenthebottomoftheboomandthetopofthe
bottomchainspan.Ifnotadjustthechaintension.
Important:Donotovertightenthechain.
Excesschaintensionmaydamagedrive
components.
Toreplaceawornchain,iporreplaceawornboom,or
toadjustthechaintension,usethefollowingprocedure:
1.Toreplacethechainortoiporreplacetheboom,
completethefollowing:
A.Removethe2boltsandnutssecuringtheboom
tothetrencherarm
