Ifthebitispositionedtoofarfromtheedgeofthe
material,thematerialmayabsorbtheenergyand
notbreak.
Ifthematerialdoesnotbreakafter1minute,stop
thebreakerandmovethebittoadifferentlocation.
Donotbindthebitinthematerialbeing
cut,otherwisethebitmaybendorwearout
prematurely.Ensurethatallforceappliedtothe
breakerisinlinewiththebit,notsidetosideor
fronttoback.Thisrequiresfrequentadjustments
inthepositioningofthetractionunit.
Listentothesoundofthebreakerwhenis
operating.Thesoundchangeswhendownward
pressuredecreases.Ifthedownwardpressure
fromtheunitistooweak,youwillhearmetallic
strokesfromthehammerasitincorrectlystrikes
thebit.
Excessivedownwardpressureproducesstrong
vibrationsintheunit.
Manymaterialsdonotbreakwellwithcontinuous
hammeringin1location.Eachtimethatthe
breakerpenetratesthematerialwithoutbreaking
it,moveittoanewlocationinalineparallelto
theedgeofthematerial,about7.6cm(3inches)
fromtheprevioushole.Thisscoresthematerial
and,ifdonerepeatedly,breaksoffalargepiece
ofthematerial.

Ifyouarebreakingrebar-reinforcedconcrete,use
achiselbitinthebreakertocutthroughtherebars
intheconcrete.Youcanalsocuttherebarwith
atorch.
Toimprovethelifeofthebreaker:
Ensurethatthehydrauliccylindershaveat
least5cm(2inches)ofstroke;donotusethe
concretebreakerwiththehydrauliccylinders
fullyextended.
Neverprywiththebitofthebreaker.
Avoidhittingmaterialabruptlywiththebit.
Donotusethebreakertoliftormovematerial.
Donotoperatethebreakerunderwater;only
allowthebitintowater.
