DANGER
Incertainconditionsduringfueling,static
electricitycanbereleased,causingasparkwhich
canignitethegasolinevapors.Areorexplosion
fromgasolinecanburnyouandothersandcan
damageproperty.
Alwaysplacegasolinecontainersontheground
awayfromyourvehiclebeforelling.
Donotllgasolinecontainersinsideavehicleor
onatruckortrailerbed,becauseinteriorcarpets
orplastictruck-bedlinersmayinsulatethe
containerandslowthelossofanystaticcharge.
Whenpractical,removefuel-poweredequipment
fromthetruckortrailer,andfueltheequipment
withthewheelsontheground.Ifthisisnot
possible,thenrefuelsuchequipmentonatruck
ortrailerfromaportablecontainerratherthan
fromagasolinedispensernozzle.
Ifafuel-dispensernozzlemustbeused,keepthe
nozzleincontactwiththerimofthefueltank
orcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfuelingis
complete.
WARNING
Fuelisharmfulorfatalifswallowed.Long-term
exposuretovaporscancauseseriousinjuryand
illness.
Avoidprolongedbreathingofvapors.
Keepyourfaceawayfromthenozzleandthe
fueltankorconditioneropening.
Keepfuelawayfromyoureyesandskin.

UsingFuelStabilizer/Conditioner
Useafuelstabilizer/conditionerinthemachinetokeepthe
fuelfreshduringstorageof90daysorless.Ifyouarestoring
themachineforlonger,drainthefueltank;refertoEmptying
theFuelTank(page20).
Important:Donotusefueladditivescontaining
methanolorethanol.
Addthecorrectamountoffuelstabilizer/conditionertothe
fuel,andfollowthedirectionsofthemanufacturer.
Note:Fuelstabilizer/conditionerismosteffectivewhen
mixedwithfreshfuel.Tominimizethechanceofvarnish
depositsinthefuelsystem,usefuelstabilizeratalltimes.
FillingtheFuelTank
Capacity:5.6L(1.48USgallons)
1.Disengagethecuttingblades,stoptheengine,waitfor
allmovingpartstostop,andturntheengineswitch
totheOffposition.
2.Allowtheenginetocool.
3.Cleanaroundthefuel-tankcapandremoveit.
Note:Thecapistetheredtothefueltank.
4.Addunleadedgasolinetothefueltankuntilthelevel
isjustinsidethemeshlterbasket.
Important:Thisspaceinthetankallowsgasoline
toexpand.Donotllthefueltankcompletelyfull.
5.Installthefuel-tankcapsecurely.
6.Wipeupanyspilledgasoline.
StartingandStoppingthe
Engine
StartingtheEngine
1.Ensurethattheblade-controlbailisintheoffposition.
2.MovetheengineswitchtotheOnposition,andopen
thefuelshutoffvalve.
3.Movethechokelevertotheleftifyouarestartinga
coldengine.
Note:Awarmorhotenginemaynotrequirechoking.
4.Movethethrottlelevermidwaybetweentheslow
(turtle)andfast(rabbit)positions.
5.Pulltherecoil-starthandlesharplytostarttheengine.
6.Aftertheenginestarts,graduallymovethechoketo
theright.
Note:Iftheenginestallsorhesitates,movethechoke
leftagainuntiltheenginewarmsup.
7.Movethethrottlelevertothedesiredsetting.
StoppingtheEngine
1.Bringthemachinetoafullstop.
2.Releasetheblade-controlbail.Thebladesshouldstop;
theenginewillcontinuetorun.
3.PlacethethrottlemidwaybetweentheSlowandFast
positions.
4.Allowtheenginetorunforaminimumof15seconds,
thenturntheengineon/offswitchtotheOffposition
tostoptheengine.
