DANGER
Whenthemachineisinoperation,contactwith
rotatingormovingpartswillseverelyinjurehands
andfeet.
Beforeadjusting,cleaning,inspecting,
troubleshooting,orrepairingthemachine,stop
theengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplugand
keepitawayfromtheplugtopreventsomeone
fromaccidentallystartingtheengine.
Staybehindthehandleandawayfromtheseed
mixerandcuttingbladeswhileoperatingthe
machine.
Keepface,hands,feet,andanyotherpartof
yourbodyorclothingawayfromconcealed,
moving,orrotatingparts.
1.Ifseeding,lltheseedhopperandsettheseedingrate
gauge;refertoAdjustingtheSeeding-rateGauge(page
14).
2.Adjustthecutting-bladedepthtothedesiredsetting;
referto
AdjustingtheCutting-bladeDepth(page14).
3.Starttheengine.
4.SettheenginethrottletotheFastposition.
5.Pushdownonthehandletoraisethefrontwheels
slightlyofftheground.
6.Squeezetheblade-controlbailagainstthehandleto
engagetheblades.Slowlylowerthefrontwheelsto
theground,allowingthebladestograduallyworkinto
thegrassandsoil.
7.Ifseeding,pushtheseeder-controlleverforwardto
starttheseedow .
Note:Thereisnoneedtoturntheseeder-control
leveroffandonforeachturn.Theseedowwillslow
and/orstopwhenthemachineisstoppedorslowed
forturning.Toreduceseedloss,raisethefrontwheels
asthemachineisturned.
Note:Themachinewillseedatthesamerategoing
forwardorrearward.
Note:Ifthereisexcessivethatch,itmaybenecessary
toremovethethatchpriortoseeding.
8.Engagetheself-propeldrivebailtobeginoperating.
AdjustingtheCutting-blade
Depth
1.Bringthemachinetoafullstop.
2.Disengagethecuttingblades.
3.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop
beforeleavingtheoperatingposition.Disconnectthe
wirefromthesparkplug.
4.Unlockthecutting-bladedepthhandlebypulling
upward.

Gauge
1.Bringthemachinetoafullstop.

beforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
4.Tochangetheseedingrate,loosentheknobon
theseeding-rategaugelocatedonthefrontofthe
seedhopper.Movethegaugepointertothedesired
position,andtightentheknob.
