AdjustingtheSeed-gate
ClosedPosition
Iftheseedgateispartiallyopenwhentheseeder-controllever
isintheOffposition,completethefollowing:
1.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,and
removethespark-plugwire.
2.Raisethecuttingbladestothehighestposition.
3.Pulltheseeder-controllevertotheOffposition.
4.Loosenthenutsontheseed-gatecontrolcable(see
Figure26).

5.Movethecablerighttoclosetheseedgateorleftto
openit.
Important:Donottightenthecabletothepoint
theseedgateistighttotherightwithextreme
tensiononthecableasthiswilldamagethegate
andthecable.Onlyadjustituntiltheopeningsin
thebottomoftheseederareclosed.
6.Tightenthejamnutsandtesttheseeder-controllever
toensurethattheseedgateopensandclosescorrectly.
Cleaning
CleaningtheEngineArea
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily(Cleantheengine
andexhaustareamoreoftenindryor
dirtyconditions.)
CAUTION
Excessivedebrisaroundengineandexhaustarea
cancauseengineandexhaustareatooverheat,
whichcancreatearehazard.
Cleanalldebrisfromengineandexhaustarea.
1.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,and
removethespark-plugwire.
2.Cleanalldebrisfromtheengineair-intakescreenand
aroundtheengine.
3.Wipeupanyexcessivegreaseoroilaroundtheengine.
CleaningundertheMachine
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,and
removethespark-plugwire.
2.Toensurethebestperformance,keeptheunderside
ofthemachineclean.
CAUTION
Themachinemaydislodgematerialfrom
underthehousing.
•Weareyeprotection.
•Stayintheoperatingposition(behindthe
handle).
•Donotallowbystandersinthearea.
3.Turnthefuelshutoffvalvetotheoffposition,and
drainthefuelfromthefueltank;refertoEmptying
theFuelTank(page20).
4.Tiltthemachinerearwarduntiltheupperhandle
restsontheground,andplaceajackstandunderthe
machine.
Note:Ifnecessary,use2peopletotiltthemachine
rearward.
5.Removethedebriswithahardwoodscraperorother
suitabledevice.Avoidburrsandsharpedges.
6.Returnthemachinetotheuprightposition.
7.Fillthefueltank.
8.Connectthewiretothesparkplug.
