CheckingandReplacingthe
Blades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Checktheblades
forwearordamage.
Whenthecuttingbladesareworndownandnolonger
functioningproperly,replacethemasfollows:
Important:Performthisprocedurewhenthefueltank
isemptyornearlyempty.
1.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,and
removethespark-plugwire.Engagetheparkingbrake.
2.Turnthefuelshutoffvalvetotheoffposition,and
drainthefuelfromthefueltank;refertoEmptying
theFuelTank(page20).
3.Removethe4bolts,lockwashers,and2spacers
securingthebeltcoverontheleftsideofthemachine,
andremovethecover.
4.Removethebladedrivebeltfromthemachine.
5.Tiltthemachinerearwarduntiltheupperhandle
restsontheground,andplaceajackstandunderthe
machine.
Note:Ifnecessary,use2peopletotiltthemachine
rearward.
CAUTION
Raisingthemachineandrelyingsolely
onmechanicalorhydraulicjackscouldbe
dangerous.Themechanicalorhydraulic
jacksmaynotprovideenoughsupportormay
malfunctionallowingthemachinetofall,
whichcouldcauseinjury.
Donotrelysolelyonmechanicalorhydraulic
jacksforsupport.Useadequatejackstands
orequivalentsupport.
6.Lowerthecuttingbladestothelowestposition.
7.Spinthecuttingbladeassembly.Itshouldspinfreely.
Ifitmakesagrindingnoiseandishalting,thebearings
areworn;replacethemwhenthebladesarereplaced.
8.Inspectthebladesfordamageandwear,andreplace
themasrequired.
