InspectingtheCuttingBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Checkthe
cuttingbladesforwearordamage.
Whenthecuttingbladesareworndownandarenolonger
functioningproperly;refertoReplacingWornCuttingBlades
(page20).
Important:Performthisprocedurewhenthefueltank
isemptyornearlyempty.Tiptheunitforwardtokeep

forwearordamage.
Whenthecuttingbladesareworndownandnolonger
functioningproperly,replacethem,asfollows:
Important:Performthisprocedurewhenthefueltank
isemptyornearlyempty.
1.Stopthemachineonalevelsurface,stoptheengine
byreleasingtheoperatorpresencebail,disconnectthe
sparkplugwire,andraisethecuttingbladestothe
transportposition.
2.Removethe4boltsand4nutssecuringthebeltcover
totheleftsideofthemachine,andremovethecover.
3.Removethecuttingbladesdrivebeltfromthemachine.
4.Tiltthemachineforwardontoitsnose,restingona
blockofwood.
Note:Itwilltake2peopletotipthemachineforward
safely.
5.Lowerthecuttingbladestothelowestposition.
6.Spinthecuttingbladeassemblymanually.
Note:Thebladeassemblyshouldspinfreely.Ifit
makesagrindingnoiseandishalting,thebearingsare
worn;replacethemwhenyoureplacetheblades.
7.Removethe4boltsandlocknutssecuringthecutting
bladeassembly(Figure23),andremoveitfromthe
machine.
