ServicingtheAirCleaner
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Inspect
theair-cleanerelements.
Every50hours—Cleantheair-cleaner
elements.Cleanthemmorefrequentlyindusty
operatingconditions.
Every200hours/Monthly(whichevercomes
rst)—Replacethepaperair-cleanerelement.
Replaceitmorefrequentlyindustyoperating
conditions.
Important:Donotoperatetheenginewithout
theairlterassembly;extremeenginedamage
willoccur.
1.Shutofftheengineandwaitforallmovingparts
tostop;refertoMaintenanceSafety(page18).
2.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug;referto
DisconnectingtheSpark-PlugWire(page19).
3.Unhookthelatchthatsecurestheair-cleaner
cover(Figure17).

9.Cleanthefoamelementinwarm,soapywater
orinanonammablesolvent.
Note:Donotusegasolinetocleanthefoam
elementbecauseitcouldcreateariskofreor
explosion.
10.Rinseanddrythefoamelementthoroughly.
11.Wipedirtfromthebaseandthecoverwitha
moistrag.
