ReplacingtheWater-Separator
Element
1.Placeacleancontainerunderthewater
separator.
2.Drainsomefuelbylooseningtheventplugand
openingthedrainvalve(Figure95).
3.Cleantheareawherethelterelementmounts
tothehead.
4.Removethelterelement.
5.Applyacoatingofcleanfuelorengineoiltothe
newO-ringandelementseal.
6.Installthenewltercanisterbyhanduntilthe
gasketcontactsthelterhead,thentightenit
anadditional1/2turn.
Note:Donotusetools.
7.Closethedrainplug.
8.Withtheventplugstillloosened,turnthekeyto
theRunposition(donotstarttheengine)sothat
theelectricfuelpumpcanllthenewlter.
9.Whenfuelowsfromtheventplug,closethe
ventplug,starttheengine,andcheckforleaks.
Note:Correctasnecessarywiththeengineoff.

3.Lubricatetheltergasketwithclean,engineoil;
refertotheengineowner'smanual(included
withthemachine)foradditionalinformation.
4.Installthedryltercanister,byhand,untilthe
gasketcontactsthelterhead,thenrotateitan
additional1/2turn.
5.TurnthekeytotheRUNpositionsothatthe
electricfuelpumpcanllthefuel-ltercanister.
6.Starttheengineandcheckforfuelleaksaround
thelterhead.
