workingnearbelts.
CheckingtheConditionoftheBelt
ServiceInterval:Every250hours
1.Movethemachinetoalevelsurface,shutoff
theengine,andremovethekey.
2.Openthefronthood.
3.Inspectthebeltforcuts,cracks,loosecords,
grease,oil,twisting,orsignsofabnormalwear
(Figure110).
Note:Replacethebeltifitisexcessivelyworn
ordamaged.
CheckingtheBeltTension
ServiceInterval:Every800hours
1.Movethemachinetoalevelsurface,shutoff
theengine,andremovethekey.
2.Openthefronthood.
3.Alignastraightedgeoverthedrivebeltand
acrossthepulleys(Figure110).

4.Pushthebeltdownatthemidwaypointbetween
thefanpulleyandthealternatorpulleyasshown
inFigure110.
Note:Therangeofbeltdeectionbetweenthe
straightedgeandthebeltshouldbe7to9mm
(0.28to0.35inches),underaloadof10kg(22
lb).
5.Ifthetensionofthebeltisaboveorbelowthe
speciedrange,adjustthedrivebelttension;
refertoAdjustingtheT ensionoftheBelt(page
90).
