ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Checktheengine
oillevel.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,stoptheengine,
andremovetheignitionkey.
2.Openthefronthood.
3.Removethedipstick(Figure88),andwipeitclean.

4.Insertthedipstickintotheoillltube,pullthedipstick
outagain,andreadtheoillevelonthedipstick.
Note:Theoillevelonthedipstickshouldbeatthe
HighmarkorbetweentheLowandHighmarks.If
theoilisbelowtheLowmark,completethefollowing
procedure:
A.Removethellcap(Figure89)andaddoiluntil
thelevelreachestheHighmark.Donotoverll.
Important:Useanoilcanisterwitha
bendablehoseorafunneltollthemachine
withoil.

1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,stoptheengine,
andremovetheignitionkey.
2.Openthefronthood.
3.Alignadrainpanorseveralragsundertheoillterand
theoil-lteradapter(Figure90).

4.Rotatetheoilltercounterclockwiseandremovethe
oillter(Figure90).
Note:Discardtheoillter.
5.Usingacleanrag,wipecleanthesurfaceoftheoil-lter
adapterwheretheoillterseatswithacleanrag.
6.Fillthenewoillterwiththespeciedengineoil.
7.Applyathinlayerofthespeciedengineoiltotheseal
oftheoillter.
8.Aligntheoilltertotheoil-lteradapter,androtate
itclockwiseuntilthesealoftheoilltercontactsthe
oil-lteradapter(Figure90).
Important:Donotuseanoillterstrapwrench
toinstallthenewoillter.Thewrenchcandent
anoillterandthereforecausealeak.
9.Handtightentheoillteranadditional1/2turn
(Figure90).
10.Removetheoilpanorragsyouplacedinstep3and
disposeoftheusedoilaccordingtolocalcodes.
