ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Checkthe
crankcase-venttubeandcleanitif
necessary.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,stoptheengine,
andremovetheignitionkey.
2.Openthefronthood.
3.Gentlypullthecrankcase-venttubeout(Figure83).
4.Cleantheendofthecrankcase-venttube(Figure83).

ServicingtheAir-Cleaning
System
Important:Donotremovetheelementsfromthe
machinetocheckfordirtylters;usethefollowing
procedureinstead.
Important:Donotreplacetheoldair-cleanerlterwith
alterthatismorethan5yearsold;checkthedateof
manufactureontheendcapoftheelement.
Note:Everytimeyouservicetheair-cleanersystem,ensure
thatallhoseconnectionsandangesareairtight.Replace
alldamagedparts.
Checktheair-cleanerbodyfordamagewhichcouldcause
anairleak.Replaceitifitisdamaged.Checkthewhole
intakesystemforleaks,damageorloosehoseclamps.
Also,inspecttherubberintakehoseconnectionsattheair
cleanerandtheturbotomakesurethattheconnections
arecomplete.
Servicetheair-cleanerlteronlywhen“CheckAirFilter”
isdisplayedonthescreen.Changingtheairlterbefore
itisnecessaryonlyincreasesthechanceofdirtentering
theenginewhenthelterisremoved.
Besurethatthecoverisseatedcorrectlyandsealswith
theair-cleanerbody.

screen;refertotheAir-CleanerIndicatorScreeninthe
SoftwareGuideforthismachine.
3.Replacetheair-lterelement(s)asfollows:
A.Replacetheprimary,air-cleanerlter;referto
ServicingtheAir-CleanerFilter(page70).
B.Repeatsteps1and2;iftherestrictedair-cleaner
indicatorisstillshownonthedisplayscreen,
replacethesecondary,air-cleanerlter;referto
ServicingtheAir-CleanerFilter(page70).
