WARNING When going up or down hill, the machine could overturn if the heavy end is toward the downhill side. Someone may be pinned or seriously injured by the machine if it overturns. Operate the machine up and down slopes with the heavy end of the machine uphill. An attached vibratory plow will make the back end of the machine heavy. WARNING Lightning can cause severe injury or death. If lightning is seen or thunder is heard in the area, do not operate the machine; seek shelter.

At the rear bulkhead, assemble the 2 swivel tees (1 x 3/4 x 3/4 inch) onto the hydraulic pressure (port A) and hydraulic return (port B) fittings and tighten the fittings hand tight (Figure 51). 3. Assemble the 2 tube-elbows (3/4 inch) and the check valve onto the tube-elbows and tighten the tube fittings hand tight (Figure 51). Note: Ensure that the flow-direction arrow on the check valve is pointing left to right. 4. Tighten the tube nuts of the tube-elbows to 90 to 111 N-m (66 to 82 ft-lb).

Ensure that the vibratory plow is level. DANGER 6. Perform the following to bleed the tilt cylinder: Pressing the elevation float switch or the swing float while you are bleeding the hydraulic system will cause the attachment to move uncontrollably and may result in personal injury or death, or damage the attachment.
Operation Using the Transport Lock Unlocking the Transport Lock 1. Start the traction unit and set the parking brake. 2. Press the tilt switch up until the shaker box is fully tilted up and forward. Important: Moving the vibratory plow to the fully-raised position without first fully tilting the shaker forward and up before raising the plow will damage the tilt cylinder. Figure 61 3. Important: Before moving the traction unit or performing maintenance, ensure that the plow is in the full up position and cam on the upper strut fully engages the hook of the transport lock.
Using the Backfill Blade/Vibratory Plow Joystick Note: Set the backfill blade/vibratory plow command button (button 5) to the vibratory plow function to change the attachment joystick function; refer to Using the Command Center (page 29). Backfill Blade/Vibratory Plow Joystick • Move the backfill blade/vibratory plow joystick toward you to raise the elevation of the vibratory plow (Figure 65 and Figure 66).

Off (fixed-position)—the plow will stop moving or floating when you move the elevation-float switch to the off position. 2.
7. Align the lower hole in the plow blade with the mounting hole in the stabilizer. 8. Install the blade-mounting pin through the mounting hole in the stabilizer and through the lower hole in the plow blade (Figure 74). Figure 73 Note: Ensure that the head of the pin is flush with the surface of the stabilizer. Installing and Removing the Vibratory Plow Blade 9. Install the safety pins into the holes in the blademounting pins, and close the bales over the mounting pins (Figure 74).
WARNING Vibrations from the plow can cause the soil of an overhang or high bank to fall and cause injury or death. Keep people and animals away from nearby overhangs and high banks while you are operating the vibratory plow. Setting the Shoe Position on the Stabilizer You can set the wear-plate shoes for the stabilizer to 2 positions depending on operating conditions, blade selection, and your preference. To change the position of the stabilizer shoes, perform the following steps: Figure 75 1.
2. Insert the cable that you are installing at the work site into the chute; refer to Installing Cable into the Cable Chute (page 32). 6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 for the other wear plate and stabilizer shoe. Positioning the Seat for Plowing 3. Move the backfill blade/vibratory plow joystick toward you to lower the plow blade to the surface of the soil. Fasten the seat belt and rotate the seat clockwise. Note: Anchor the end of the cable as necessary.

Dig a service hole down where the cable will join the service connection to the plowing depth of the cable run (Figure 85) and no wider than 0.6 m (24 inches). Important: Do not start the blade-vibration function of the plow until the blade has entered the ground.
6. Move the traction unit to the position that aligns the plow blade with the next direction for the cable run and alongside the service hole (Figure 87). 7. Carefully lower the blade into the service hole. 8. Install the cable into the chute and install the gate to the chute; refer to Installing Cable into the Cable Chute (page 32). 9. While feeding the cable into the chute, move the traction unit forward until the blade enters the soil on the side of the service hole (Figure 87). 10.
Transporting the Traction Unit with a Vibratory Plow Transporting the Traction Unit with a Vibratory Plow 1. Remove the plow blade; refer to Removing the Plow Blade (page 32). 2. Storage 1. Before storing the traction unit, brush off the dirt from the attachment. Note: Refer to the traction unit Operator’s Manual for storing the traction unit. 2. Check the condition of the hoses, the stabilizer shoes, the plow blade, and the cable chute. Replace any worn or damaged parts. 3. Check and tighten all bolts, nuts, and screws. Repair or replace any part that is damaged or worn. 4. Ensure that all hydraulic couplers are connected together to prevent contaminating the hydraulic system. 5.
Troubleshooting Problem The plow does not vibrate. The blade does not plow fast enough. Possible Cause Corrective Action 1. A hydraulic fitting is not completely connected. 1. Check and tighten all fittings. 2. A hydraulic fitting is damaged. 3. There is an obstruction in a hydraulic hose. 4. The drive-control cable is disconnected or has failed. 5.
