CheckingtheTines
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Stoptheengine,settheparkingbrake,removethekey,
andwaitforallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
2.Raisethemachineandsupportitwithjackstandswith
a460kg(1,015lb)capacity.
CAUTION
Raisingthemachineforserviceor
maintenancerelyingsolelyonmechanical
orhydraulicjackscouldbedangerous.The
mechanicalorhydraulicjacksmaynotbe
enoughsupportormaymalfunctionallowing
themachinetofall,whichcouldcauseinjury.
Donotrelysolelyonmechanicalorhydraulic
jacksforsupport.Useadequatejackstands
orequivalentsupport.
3.Removethe2bolt(3/8x1inch)and2washers(3/8
inch)thatsecuretherear-coverpaneltothechassis,
andremovethepanel(Figure62).

4.Removerocksandotherdebrisfromthetines.
5.Inspectthetinesforwearanddamage.
Note:Replaceanytinesthatarewornordamaged.
6.Aligntheholesintherear-coverpaneltotheholesin
thechassis(Figure62).
7.Securethecoverpaneltothechassiswiththe2bolts
and2washers(Figure62)thatyouremovedinstep3,
andtorquetheboltsto37to45N-m(27to33lb-in)
AdjustingtheTine-driveChain
1.Stoptheengine,settheparkingbrake,removethekey,
andwaitforallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
2.Removetherearcover;refertostep3ofCheckingthe
Tines(page47).
3.Checkthechainsonbothsidesofthemachinefor
propertension.
Note:Thechainsshouldmoveupanddown6to12
mm(1/4to1/2inch).
4.Loosenthelocknutandcarriageboltthatsecurethe
idlersprocket(Figure63).

Pushdownandforwardonthesprockettoincrease
thechaintensionasshowninFigure63.
Liftupandbackonthesprockettodecreasethe
chaintension.
6.Torquethelocknutto91to113N-m(67to83lb-ft).
7.Checkthechaintensionandifnecessaryrepeatsteps4
through6untilyoucanmovethechainupanddown6
to12mm(1/4to1/2inch).
8.Installtherearpanel;refertosteps6and7ofChecking
theTines(page47).
