ChangingtheEngineOilFilter
ServiceInterval:Every200hoursOreveryotheroil
change.
Note:Changetheoilltermorefrequentlywhenthe
operatingconditionsareextremelydustyorsandy.
1.Draintheoilfromtheengine;refertoChangingthe
EngineOil.
2.Removetheoldlter(Figure25).

3.Applyathincoatofnewoiltotherubbergasketon
thereplacementlter(Figure25).
4.Installthereplacementoilltertothelteradapter,
turntheoillterclockwiseuntiltherubbergasket
contactsthelteradapter,thentightenthelteran
additional3/4turn(Figure25).
5.Fillthecrankcasewiththepropertypeofnewoil;
refertoServicingtheEngineOil.
6.Runtheengineforabout3minutes,stoptheengine,
andcheckforoilleaksaroundtheoillteranddrain
valve.
7.Checktheengineoillevelandaddoilifneeded.
8.Wipeupanyspilledoil.
ServicingtheSparkPlugs
Ensurethattheairgapbetweenthecenterandside
electrodesiscorrectbeforeinstallingthesparkplug.
Useasparkplugwrenchforremovingandinstallingthe
sparkplugsandagappingtool/feelergaugetocheckand
adjusttheairgap.Installanewsparkplugsifnecessary.

0.030inch(0.75mm)
CheckingtheSparkPlugs
ServiceInterval:Every100hours
1.Lookatthecenterofthesparkplugs(Figure26).
Ifyouseelightbrownorgrayontheinsulator,the
engineisoperatingproperly.Ablackcoatingonthe
insulatorusuallymeansthattheaircleanerisdirty.
2.Ifneeded,cleanthesparkplugwithawirebrushto
removecarbondeposits.

Important:Alwaysreplacethesparkplugs
whenithaswornelectrodes,anoilylmonit,
orhascracksintheporcelain.
3.Checkthegapbetweenthecenterandsideelectrodes
(Figure26).Bendthesideelectrode(Figure26)if
thegapisnotcorrect.
RemovingtheSparkPlugs
1.DisengagethePTOandsettheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Disconnectthewiresfromthesparkplugs
(Figure27).
