Subject: Availability of replacement heavy-duty front wheel Rim (106-1016).
Cracks and deformation of a wheel rim are typically the result of improper installation
torque or not maintaining the proper torque as described in the Operator’s Manual.
Added weight such as an Operator Cab or extreme loads such as caused by operating
at high speed over rough terrain, will accelerate wheel rim damage if the wheel nuts are
not installed and maintained properly.
A heavy-duty front wheel Rim (106-1016) is now available for use on Groundsmaster
3000 products. The material of this rim is ½ inch (12.7 mm) thick at the mounting holes,
which greatly increases the strength of the rim.
The same installation information applies to heavy-duty wheel Rim (106-1016) or the
original Rim (98-2374). The Operator’s Manual states to torque the wheel nuts to 75-80
ft-lb (35-36 Kgm) after 1-4 hours of operation and again after 10 hours of operation and
every 200 hours thereafter. This process must be repeated whenever the wheel rim is
removed or reinstalled. Do not over torque the lug nuts, especially when using the
original Rim (100-1357), or the material may develop cracks in the metal.
