Subject: Rough Running Engine and Excessive Smoke
The engines in the units listed above may exhibit symptoms of excessive black/gray
smoke and misfire at idle/mid rpm engine speeds. The symptoms may be more
pronounced until the engine reaches operating temperature. This condition is not
detrimental to the life of the engine, but may be objectionable to operators.
If rough running/excessive smoking engine condition is noticed, inspection and
adjustment of the Injection Pump timing may be required. Contact you local Distributor
to arrange for an inspection and possible adjustment of the Injection Pump.
Important: An Engine Tune-Up Tool Kit (TOR4035) is required for performing
Injection Pump timing adjustments. Do not attempt any adjustments
without the proper tools and instructions or damage may result.
