ServicingtheCuttingBlades
Maintainsharpbladesthroughoutthecuttingseasonbecause
sharpbladescutcleanlywithouttearingorshreddingthegrass
blades.Tearingandshreddingturnsgrassbrownattheedges,
whichslowsgrowthandincreasesthechanceofdisease.
Checkthebladesdailyforsharpness,andforanywear
ordamage.Sharpenthebladesasnecessary.Ifabladeis
damagedorworn,replaceitimmediatelywithagenuineToro
replacementblade.
DANGER
Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,andapiece
ofthebladecouldbethrownintotheoperator's
orbystander'sarea,resultinginseriouspersonal
injuryordeath.
•Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
•Replaceawornordamagedblade.
Inspectthebladesevery8hours.
PreparingtoServicetheBlades
1.DisengagethePTO,movethemotioncontrolleversto
theneutrallockedposition,andsettheparkingbrake.
2.MovethethrottlelevertotheSlowposition,stopthe
engine,removethekey,andwaitforallmovingpartsto
stopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
InspectingtheBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure69).
Note:Iftheedgesarenotsharporhavenicks,remove
andsharpentheblades.RefertoSharpeningtheBlades
(page59).
2.Inspecttheblades,especiallythecurvedarea(Figure
69).
Note:Ifyounoticeanydamage,wear,oraslot
forminginthisarea(Figure69),immediatelyinstalla
newblade.

DANGER
Ifyouallowthebladetowear,aslotwillform
betweenthesailandatpartoftheblade.
Eventuallyapieceoftheblademaybreak
offandbethrownfromunderthehousing,
possiblyresultinginseriousinjurytoyouor
bystanders.
•Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
•Nevertrytostraightenabladethatisbent
orweldabrokenorcrackedblade.
•Replaceawornordamagedblade.
