1.Positionthemachineandcuttingunitonalevelsurface.
2.Lowerthemowerdecktothe2.5cm(1inch)height
ofcut.
3.DisengagethePTO,movethemotioncontrolleversto
theneutrallockedposition,andsettheparkingbrake.
4.MovethethrottlelevertotheSlowposition,stopthe
engine,removethekey,andwaitforallmovingpartsto
stopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
5.Liftthefootrest,exposingthetopofthemowerdeck.
6.Removethedipstick/llplugfromthetopofthegear
box(
Figure40).
7.Placeafunnelanddrainpanunderthedrainplug
locatedunderthefrontofthegearboxandremovethe
plug,drainingthelubricantintothepan.
8.Replacethedrainplug.
9.Addenoughlubricant,approximately283ml(12oz),
untilthelevelisbetweenthemarksonthedipstick.
Note:Donotoverllgearbox;overllingthegear
boxmaydamageit.

CheckingtheAirCleaner
1.Checktheaircleanerbodyfordamage,whichcould
possiblycauseanairleak.Replaceadamagedair
cleanerbody.Checkthewholecleanairintakesystem
forleaks,damage,orloosehoseclamps.
2.Servicetheaircleanerlterwhentheaircleaner
indicator(
Figure41)showsredorevery400
hours(morefrequentlyinextremelydustyordirty
conditions).Donotoverservicetheairlter.

cleananddry)tohelpremovelargeaccumulationsof
debrispackedbetweenoutsideofprimarylterand
thecanister.
Thiscleaningprocesspreventsdebrisfrommigrating
intotheintakewhentheprimarylterisremoved.
Important:Avoidusinghigh-pressureairwhich
couldforcedirtthroughthelterintotheintake
tract.
