1.Apply10lbofforcetothealternatorbelt,midway
betweenthepulleys.
2.Ifthedeectionisnot3/8in.(10mm),loosenthe
alternatormountingbolts.

tightenthebolts.
4.Checkthedeectionofthebeltagaintoensurethat
thetensioniscorrect.
ReplacingtheBladeDrive
Belts
ServiceInterval:Every50hours
Thebladedrivebelts,tensionedbythespringloaded
idlerpulleys,areverydurable.However,aftermany
hoursofuse,thebeltswillshowsignsofwear.Signsof
awornbeltare:squealingwhenbeltisrotating,blades
slippingwhencuttinggrass,frayededges,burnmarks
andcracks.Replacethebeltsifanyoftheseconditions
areevident.
1.Lowerthecuttingunittothe1inchheightofcut
setting,movethethrottlelevertotheSlowposition,
stoptheengine,settheparkingbrake,andremove
theignitionkey.
2.Removethebeltcoversfromthetopofthecutting
unitandsetthecoversaside.
3.Usingabreakerbarorsimilartool,movetheidler
pulleyforthetopbelt(
Figure59)awayfromthetop
drivebelttoreleasethebelttensionandallowthe
belttobeslippedoffthepulleys.

thebottomdrivebelttoreleasethebelttensionand
