Subject: Muffler cracking at the inlet pipe.
Some machines within the listed serial range may develop cracking of the Muffler inlet
pipe. The cause of the crack has been determined to be harmonic vibrations in the
engine that occur at certain engine speeds. Operating the engine below minimum
specifications (1150 ±50 rpm) or above the maximum specification (2750 ±50 rpm) will
contribute to this type of failure.
The improved brackets have been re-designed to absorb the damaging effects from
harmonic vibrations with the addition of a support brace intregrated into the bracket.
If your unit experiences this situation, improved Muffler brackets can be installed.
