cuttingcylinderstothebottomblades.Checkthat
athinpieceofpapercanbecutcleanlyatallpoints
alongthecuttingedgeswhilerotatingthecylinders
byhand.
9.Iffurtherbacklappingisnecessaryrepeatsteps2–8.
10.Thoroughlyremoveandwashoffalltracesofthe
carborundumpastefromthecylindersandbottom
blades.
CutterheadsGrinding
Itwillbenecessarytocarryoutagrindingoperation
tocorrectcylinderspiraledgesorbottombladeedges
whichhavebecomeexcessivelyroundedordistorted.
Bottombladeswhicharenearingtheendoftheir
wearlifeshouldbereplaced.Thenewbladesshould
begroundontheirholderspriortotting,referto
CutterheadsBottomBladeReplacement(page49).
Whengrindingoperationsarenecessaryitisessential
thatbothcylindersandbottombladesaregroundatthe
sametime.Theonlyexceptiontothisruleiswhena
newcylinderisttedinwhichcaseitisonlynecessary
togrindthebottomblade.Allsuchgrindingoperations
shouldbecarriedoutbyyourauthorizeddealerona
quality,wellmaintainedcylinder/bottombladegrinding
machine
CutterheadsBottomBlade
Replacement
1.Removethebottombladeholderbyremovingthe
3xingboltsateachendandwithdrawfromthe
cutterheads.
2.Removethewornbottombladeanddiscardthe
countersunkscrewsandsecuringnuts.
3.Fitthenewbladetotheholderandlooselyassemble
withnewcountersunkscrewsandsecuringnuts.
4.Tightenthecentreboltstoatorqueof40N-m(30
lb-ft).
5.Continuebytighteningtheremainingboltstothe
sametorquebyworkingfromthecentreouttowards
thebladeends.
6.Thenewbottomblademustbegroundonitsholder
priortorettingtothecutterheads.Adjustthe
cuttingcylinderpositiontogiveadequateclearance
forttingthenewbottombladeholder.
7.Installthebottombladeholderassemblytothe
cutterheadsusingtheoriginalxingboltsandtighten
toatorqueof35N-m(26lb-ft).
8.Finallyadjustthecylinderto
thebottomblade,referto
CutterheadCylindertoBottomBladeAdjustment(page47).
