5. Check that the neutral safety switch actuating tab

has depressed the plunger of the safety switch

so that there is about 5/16” (7.9mm) between the

tab and the switch. If necessary, move the switch

forward or back to obtain the correct measurement

(Fig. 373).

2. Slide the shift lever to the far left position (reverse)

(Fig. 375).

3. Move the shift lever to the right one detent (neutral).

(Fig. 376).

1. Loosen the two bolts and nuts securing the shift

plate to the shift plate brackets (Fig. 374).
