4. Check the belt guide under the engine frame for the
proper adjustment. The distance between the belt
guide and mower belt should be 3/4” (1.9cm) when
the mower belt is engaged. Adjust the belt guide if
necessary. The disengaged belt should not drag or
fall off the pulley when the guide is properly adjusted
(Fig. 573).

2. Pull the on the split ring/chain assembly to release
tension from the idler (Fig. 575).

1. Remove the mower belt from the engine belt drive
pulley (Fig. 574).
