Subject: 4WD Bi-Directional Clutch Spacer Rework.
The spacer which retains the Bi-Directional Clutch to the rear differential pinion was
manufactured with the outside diameter 0.531in (13.48mm). When the 4WD Bi-
Directional Clutch is under torque, the clutch assembly may move up and down
excessively which will cause eventual wear on the rear differential pinion shaft splines.
To prevent premature failure, a replacement Spacer needs to be installed on all units
affected. The replacement spacer outside diameter has been increase to 0.630in
(16.0mm) to properly support the Bi-Directional Clutch when torque is applied.
