PERIODIC MAINTENANCE One of the main reasons for selecting hydraulic systems for use in today's turf equipment is the ease of maintenance. By caring for the system using a regular maintenance program, you can eliminate common problems. This section will explain how to keep the system maintained and at an optimum performance level. However, these goals can only be reached when the mechanic understands and follows a good maintenance routine which consists of the following: .
~ PERIODIC MAINTENANCE 4. Remove the tube that connects the axle housing and transmission (Sundstrand), or the axle housing and filter (Vickers) and allow the oil to flow into a drain pan. B Tighten the nut finger tight until it bottoms against the seat (Fig. 8). 5. Fill the new hydraulic oil filter with fresh 10W30 or 10W40 oil and install the filter onto the bottom of the transmission or filter mounting pad. 6. Install the tube between the axle housing and transmission/filter mounting pad.
