Subject: Engine will not start due to a 10 Amp Fuse Failure
The Groundsmaster 4500-D and 4700-D units produced with the Standard Control Module
(SCM) in 2003 and early 2004 may exhibit repetitive 10 amp Start Fuse failures.
Common symptoms are that the fuse fails after the unit has been running for a while (up to
operating temperature) and is then turned off. The failed fuse will prevent the engine from
cranking, and a replacement fuse may also fail after installation. Allowing the unit to cool for a
short period may seem to temporarily correct the issue.
The issue has been identified as a start wire gage size issue, and a Start Relay Kit (107-1991)
is available to correct the issue. If your machine exhibits these symptoms and is within the
model/serial range listed, please contact you local authorized Toro Distributor to arrange for
assistance.
