Information Only: Final Release
Situation:
Important Information
When replacing engines in US based equipment that no longer comply to
current US EPA exhaust emission regulations with a new replacement
engine of the same configuration, the EPA requires the old engine to be
destroyed so that it does not continue to generate high levels of emissions.
Toro and the engine manufacturer are required to track and verify the
disposition of ALL such engines being replaced by new, non-compliant
service engines. They must also maintain these records for five years.
NOTE: This disposition requirement does not apply to repairs of an engine
or replacement with a used or remanufactured engine nor to service
engines sold outside of the US.
Correction:
Kubota engines that are replaced by new non-compliant service engines in
Toro Commercial products cannot be rebuilt, sold, or re-used in any way.
Parts from the engine can be removed, but the engine cylinder block must be
destroyed.
