Thethrottlelever(Figure8)controlstheengine
speed.Movingthethrottleleverforwardtowardthe
FASTpositionincreasestheenginespeed.Moving
itrearwardtowardtheSLOWpositiondecreasesthe
enginespeed.Thethrottlecontrolsthespeedofthe
PTOand,withthetractionpedal,controlstheground
speedofthemachine.Alwaysrunthemachine
withthethrottleintheFASTpositionwhenoperating
attachments.
HourMeter
Thehourmeterrecordsthenumberofhoursthat
youoperatethemachinewiththekeyswitchinthe
RUNposition.Usethesetimesforschedulingregular
maintenance.
Engine-Coolant-Temperature
WarningLight
Iftheengine-coolanttemperatureishigh,thewarning
light(Figure8)glowsandanequippedattachment
shutsoff.Ifthecoolanttemperaturerisesanother
11°C(20°F)whileyoucontinuetooperatethe
machine,theengineshutsoff.
Important:Iftheattachmentshutsoffandthe
temperaturewarninglightison,pushthePTO
knobdown,drivethemachinetoasafe,atarea,
movethethrottlelevertotheSLOWposition,allow
thetractionpedaltomovetotheNEUTRALposition,
andengagetheparkingbrake.Allowtheengine
toidleforseveralminuteswhileitcoolstoasafe
level.Shutofftheengineandcheckthecooling
system;refertoCheckingtheCoolingSystem
(page47).
