coolantarepollutants.Disposeoftheseaccordingto
yourstateandlocalregulations.

•Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovementtostopbeforeyouleavethe
operator’sposition.Allowthemachinetocool
beforeadjusting,servicing,cleaning,orstoringit.
•Donotstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlight,such
asonawaterheaterorotherappliance.
PreparingtheMachine
1.Thoroughlycleanthemachine,thedeck,and
theengine,payingspecialattentiontothe
followingareas:
•Radiatorandradiatorscreen
•Counterbalancesprings
•PTO-shaftassembly
•Allgreasettingsandpivotpoints
•Insideofthecontrolbox(Removethecontrol
panelforaccess.)
•Beneaththeseatplateandthetopofthe
transmission
2.Checkandadjustthetirepressure;referto
CheckingtheTirePressure(page46).
3.Checkallfastenersforloosenessandtighten
themasnecessary.
4.Greaseoroilallgreasettings,pivotpoints,and
transmissionbypass-valvepins.Wipeoffany
excesslubricant.
5.Lightlysandandusetouch-uppaintonpainted
areasthatarescratched,chipped,orrusted.
Repairanydentsinthemetalbody.
6.Servicethebatteryandcablesasfollows:
A.Removethebatteryterminalsfromthe
batteryposts.
B.Cleanthebattery,terminals,andpostswith
awirebrushandbaking-sodasolution.
C.Coatthecableterminalsandbatteryposts
withGrafo112Xskin-overgrease(T oroPart
No.505-47)orpetroleumjellytoprevent
corrosion.
D.Slowlychargethebatteryfor24hoursevery
60daystopreventleadsulfationofthe
battery.
PreparingtheEngine
1.Draintheengineoilfromtheoilpanandinstall
thedrainplug.
