CleaningtheRadiator
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Topreventtheenginefromoverheating,theradiatormust
bekeptclean.Normally,checktheradiatordailyand,if
necessary,cleananydebrisofftheseparts.However,itwill
benecessarytocheckandcleantheradiatorfrequentlyin
extremelydustyanddirtyconditions.
Note:Iftheattachmentorengineshutsoffdueto
overheating,rstchecktheradiatorandthewholeradiator
forexcessivebuildupofdebris.
Cleantheradiatorasfollows:
1.Openthehoodandsecuretheproprod.
2.Loosentheangenutsecuringthecleanoutcoverto
theundersideoftherearframe(Figure42).Rotatethe
covertothesidetoexposethecleanoutholeinthe
frame.

3.Workingfromthefansideoftheradiator,blowout
debriswithlowpressure(50psi)compressedair(do
notusewater).Repeatthestepfromthefrontofthe
radiatorandagainfromthefanside.
4.Aftertheradiatoristhoroughlycleaned,cleanout
debristhatmayhavecollectedinthechannelatthe
radiatorbaseandaroundtheframe.Also,cleanout
theenginecompartmentandbrakelinkagetoassure
optimumperformance.
5.Closethecleanoutcoverandsecuretheangenut.
6.Closethehood.
Note:Donotusewatertocleantheexternalsurfaces
oftheradiator.Useofwaterwilltrapandsolidify
debrisintherecessesoftheradiatorlimitingitsability
toperformasdesigned.
