DANGER
Whenthemachineisinoperation,contactwith
rotatingormovingpartswillseverelyinjurehands
andfeet.
•Beforeadjusting,cleaning,inspecting,
troubleshooting,orrepairingthemachine,stop
theengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplugand
keepitawayfromtheplugtopreventsomeone
fromaccidentallystartingtheengine.
•Staybehindthehandleandawayfromtheseed
mixerandcuttingbladeswhileoperatingthe
machine.
•Keepface,hands,feet,andanyotherpartof
yourbodyorclothingawayfromconcealed,
moving,orrotatingparts.
1.Ifseeding,lltheseedhopperandsettheseedingrate
gauge;refertoAdjustingtheSeeding-rateGauge(page
15).
2.Adjustthecutting-bladedepthtothedesiredsetting;
refertoAdjustingtheCutting-bladeDepth(page15).
3.Starttheengine.
4.SettheenginethrottletotheFastposition.
5.Pushdownonthehandletoraisethefrontwheels
slightlyofftheground.
6.Squeezetheblade-controlbailagainstthehandleto
engagetheblades.Slowlylowerthefrontwheelsto
theground,allowingthebladestograduallyworkinto
thegrassandsoil.
7.Ifseeding,pushtheseeder-controlleverforwardto
starttheseedow.
Note:Thereisnoneedtoturntheseeder-control
leveroffandonforeachturn.Theseedowwillslow
and/orstopwhenthemachineisstoppedorslowed
forturning.Toreduceseedloss,raisethefrontwheels
asthemachineisturned.
Note:Themachinewillseedatthesamerategoing
forwardorrearward.
Note:Ifthereisexcessivethatch,itmaybenecessary
toremovethethatchpriortoseeding.
8.Engagetheself-propeldrivebailtobeginoperating.
UsingtheSeedCover
•Toinstalltheseedcover(Figure13),placeitoverthe
seedhopperandfastenittothelatchpostsoneitherside
usingtherubberlatches.
•Toremovetheseedcover,pulleachrubberlatchdown
andawayfromthelatchpostsandremovethecover.
