InspectingtheBelts
ServiceInterval:Every25hours—Checkthebeltsfor
wear/cracks.
Checkthebeltsforcracks,frayededges,burnmarks,orany
otherdamage.Replacedamagedbelts.
ReplacingtheTransmission
Belt
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagethe
blade,andengagetheparkingbrake.
2.TurntheignitionkeytotheOFFposition,remove
thekey,anddisconnectthesparkplugwirefromthe
sparkplug.
3.Raisethemachineusingahoistorjackstands.
4.Removetheextensionspringfromthetensionarm
(Figure32).

5.Removethetransmissionbeltfromthepulleys.
6.Wrapthenewtransmissionbeltaroundtheclutch,
transmission,andtensionpulleys(Figure32).
7.Installtheextensionspringontothetensionarm.
ReplacingtheMowerBelt
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagethe
blade,andengagetheparkingbrake.
2.TurntheignitionkeytotheOFFposition,remove
thekey,anddisconnectthesparkplugwirefromthe
sparkplug.
3.Raisethemachineusingahoistorjackstands.
4.Removethetransmissionbelt;refertoReplacingthe
TransmissionBelt(page26).
5.Loosentheleftandrightsideboltsafewturns,and
loosenthefrontboltuntilthecoverisloose(Figure33).
Note:Donotremovethebolts.
