Toensureasuperiorqualityofcut,keepthebladesharp.For
convenientsharpeningandreplacement,youmaywantto
keepextrabladesonhand.
BladeSafety
Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,andapieceoftheblade
couldbethrownatyouorbystanders,resultinginserious
personalinjuryordeath.Tryingtorepairadamagedblade
mayresultindiscontinuedsafetycerticationoftheproduct.
Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearordamage.
Usecarewhencheckingtheblade.Wrapthebladeor
weargloves,andusecautionwhenservicingtheblade.
Onlyreplaceorsharpentheblade;neverstraightenor
weldthem.
BeforeInspectingorServicing
theBlade
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagethe
blade,andengagetheparkingbrake.
2.TurntheignitionkeytotheOFFposition,remove
thekey,anddisconnectthesparkplugwiresfromthe
sparkplugs.
3.Tiltthemachinesothatthedeckisoffthegroundand
placewoodblocksunderthedecktoholditup.
InspectingtheBlade
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure36).
2.Iftheedgesarenotsharporhavenicks,removeand
sharpentheblade;refertoSharpeningtheBlade(page
29).
3.Inspecttheblade.
4.Ifyounoticeanycrackorwear,immediatelyinstalla
newblade(Figure36).
