8.CheckingtheTractionDrive
Operation
Procedure
Ifthetractiondriveisnotproperlyadjusted,
thesnowthrowermaymoveinthedirection
oppositeofwhatyouintended,causinginjury
and/orpropertydamage.
Carefullycheckthetractiondriveandadjustit
properly,ifnecessary.
Important:Tooperatethetractiondrive,you
mustoperatethesnowthrowerwiththeself-propel
featureengaged.RefertoFreewheelingorUsing
theSelf-propelDrive.
1.Starttheengine;refertoStartingtheEngine.
2.MovethespeedselectortoPositionR1;referto
OperatingtheSpeedSelector.
3.Squeezethelefthand(traction)levertothehand-grip
(Figure14).

Thesnowthrowershouldmoverearward.Ifthe
snowthrowerdoesnotmoveormovesforward,
completethefollowing:
A.Releasethetractionleverandstoptheengine.
B.Disconnectthetrunnionfromthespeedselector
lever(Figure6).
C.Turnthetrunniondownward(clockwise)onthe
speedcontrolrod(Figure6).
D.Connectthetrunnionfromthespeedselector
lever(Figure6).
4.Releasethetractionlever.
5.MovethespeedselectortothePosition1;referto
OperatingtheSpeedSelector.
6.Squeezethelefthand(traction)levertothehand-grip
(Figure14).
Thesnowthrowershouldmoveforward.Ifthe
snowthrowerdoesnotmoveormovesrearward,
completethefollowing:
A.Releasethetractionleverandstoptheengine.
B.Disconnectthetrunnionfromthespeedselector
lever(Figure6).
C.Turnthetrunnionupward(counterclockwise)on
thespeedcontrolrod(Figure6).
D.Connectthetrunnionfromthespeedselector
lever(Figure6).
7.Ifyoumadeanyadjustments,repeatthisprocedure
untilnoadjustmentsarerequired.
Important:Ifthesnowthrowermoveswhenthe
tractionleverisinthereleasedposition,checkthe
tractioncable(refertoCheckingandAdjusting
theTractionCable)ortakethesnowthrowertoan
AuthorizedServiceDealerforservice.
