DrivingtheMachineRearward
1.Placethespeed-selectorleverintothedesired
reverse-speedrange,makingsurethatthespeed
selectorlocksinthenotch.
2.Tomoverearward,engagethetractiondriveandslowly
squeezethelefttractionlevertothehandle.
Note:Momentarilysqueezingandreleasingtheleftor
rightwheel-clutchleverallowsforsteeringadjustments
tokeepthemachinegoinginastraightline.
Note:Toturnright,squeezetherightwheel-clutch
levertowardthehandle.Thisdisengagesthedriveto
therightwheelwhiletheleftwheelcontinuesdriving,
andthemachineturnstotheright.

Note:Squeezingbothwheel-clutchleverssimultaneously
disengagesthedrivetobothwheels.Thisenablesyouto
movethemachinerearwardwithoutstoppingtoshiftitintoa
reversegear.Italsoallowsyoutomaneuverandtransportthe
machinemoreeasilywhentheengineisnotrunning.
OperatingtheBroom
DANGER
Whenthemachineisinoperation,contactwith
rotatingormovingpartswillseverelyinjurehands
andfeet.
Beforeadjusting,cleaning,inspecting,
troubleshooting,orrepairingthemachine,stop
theengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplugand
keepitawayfromtheplugtopreventsomeone
fromaccidentallystartingtheengine.
Staybehindthehandlesandawayfromthe
broomwhileoperatingthemachine.
Keepface,hands,feet,andanyotherpartof
yourbodyorclothingawayfromconcealed,
moving,orrotatingparts.
WARNING
Contactwitharotatingbroomcanresultin
seriouspersonalinjuryordeathtotheoperatoror
bystanders.
Toremoveanobstructionfromthebroom;refer
toClearingaCloggedBroom(page16).
Donotoperatethemachineifthebroomdrive
leverisnotfunctioningproperly.Contactyour
authorizedTorodealer.
WARNING
Therotatingbroomcanthrowstonesandother
foreignobjects,causingseriouspersonalinjuryto
theoperatorortobystanders.
Keeptheworkingareaclearandfreeofall
objectsthatthebroomcouldpickupandthrow.
Keepallchildrenandpetsawayfromthearea
ofoperation.
CAUTION
Whenthebroomisengaged,itmaydrivethe
machineinthereversedirection.Ifthebroom
heightisadjustedtoolow,themachinemaymove
moreforcefullyinthereversedirection,causing
injuryand/orpropertydamage.
Carefullycheckthebroomheightandadjustit
properlyorcontactyourauthorizedTorodealer.
