1.Cleanandinspecttheholeinthecrankcasewherethegovernorgear

assemblywasinstalled.Ifdamageexists,replacetheengine.

2.Ifinstallingausedgovernorgearassembly,inspectthecomponentsbelow.If

anycomponentsaredamaged,obtainanewgovernorgearassembly.

•Inspectthegearteethforwearordamage.

•Inspectthecenterboreifwornorlooseonshaft.

•Inspecttheyweightsforcracks,worn,orbent.

•Inspectthespoolifcrackedorworn.Verifythespoolslidesfreelyonshaft.

•Inspecttheshaftifgalledorroughwherethespoolandgearassembly

rotate.

•Inspectthewasher(s)ifworn,bent,ordamaged.

3.Verifythegovernorshaftandarmarefreetorotateinthecrankcase.

1.Positionthecrankcasesothattheywheelsideoftheengineisdownward.

Supportthecrankcasewherethegovernorgearassemblywillbeinstalled.

Note:Donotlettheassemblyrestontheendofthecrankshaftofthechoke

lever.

2.Rotatethecrankshafttoallowaccesstothegovernorgeararea.

3.Swingthegovernorshafttowardsthecrankshaft.

4.Installthewasherintothecrankcase.

5.Assemblethegovernorassemblybyinsertingthelongendofshaftintothe

plasticgearassembly.
