•Useonlyanapprovednon-metal,portablefuelcontainer.
Staticelectricdischargecanignitegasolinevaporsina
ungroundedfuelcontainer.Removethefuelcontainer
fromthebedofthevehicleandplaceonthegroundaway
fromthevehiclebeforelling.Keepnozzleincontact
withcontainerwhilelling.
•Checkthesafetyinterlocksystemdailyforproper
operation.Ifaswitchshouldmalfunction,replacethe
switchbeforeoperatingmachine.
WhileOperating
WARNING
Engineexhaustcontainscarbonmonoxide,which
isanodorless,deadlypoisonthatcankillyou.
Donotrunengineindoorsorinanenclosedarea.
•Operatorandpassengershouldremainseatedwhenever
thevehicleisinmotion.Operatorshouldkeepboth
handsonsteeringwheel,wheneverpossibleand
passengershouldusehandholdsprovided.Keeparms
andlegswithinthevehiclebodyatalltimes.Nevercarry
passengersintheboxoronattachments.Rememberyour
passengermaynotbeexpectingyoutobrakeorturnand
maynotbeready.
•Alwayswatchoutforandavoidlowoverhangssuchas
treelimbs,doorjambs,andover-headwalkways.Make
surethereisenoughroomoverheadtoeasilyclearthe
vehicle,sprayerboomsandyourhead.
•Whenstartingtheengine:
–Sitonoperator’sseatandensureparkingbrakeis
engaged.
–DisengagePTO(ifsoequipped)andreturnhand
throttlelevertoOffposition(ifsoequipped).
–MoveshiftlevertoNeutralanddepressclutchpedal.
–Keepfootoffacceleratorpedal.
–TurnignitionkeytoStart.
•Usingthemachinedemandsattention.Failuretooperate
vehiclesafelymayresultinanaccident,tipoverofvehicle
andseriousinjuryordeath.Drivecarefully.Toprevent
tippingorlossofcontrol:
–Useextremecaution,reducespeedandmaintain
asafedistancearoundsandtraps,ditches,creeks,
ramps,andanyunfamiliarareasorotherhazards.
–Watchforholesorotherhiddenhazards.
–Usecautionwhenoperatingvehicleonasteepslope.
Normallytravelstraightupanddownslopes.Reduce
speedwhenmakingsharpturnsorwhenturning
onhillsides.Avoidturningonhillsideswhenever
possible.
–Useextracautionwhenoperatingvehicleonwet
surfaces,athigherspeedsorwithafullload.Stopping
timewillincreasewithafullload.Shiftintoalower
gearbeforestartingupordownahill.
–Avoidsuddenstopsandstarts.Donotgofrom
reversetoforwardorforwardtoreversewithoutrst
comingtoacompletestop.
–Donotattemptsharpturnsorabruptmaneuversor
otherunsafedrivingactionsthatmaycausealossof
vehiclecontrol.
–Donotpassanothervehicletravelinginthesame
directionatintersections,blindspots,oratother
dangerouslocations.
–Whendraining,donotletanyonestandbehind
vehicleanddonotdrainliquidonanyone’sfeet.
–Keepallbystandersaway.Beforebackingup,lookto
therearandassurenooneisbehind.Backupslowly.
–Watchoutfortrafcwhennearorcrossingroads.
Alwaysyieldtherightofwaytopedestriansandother
vehicles.Thisvehicleisnotdesignedforuseon
streetsorhighways.Alwayssignalyourturnsorstop
earlyenoughsootherpersonsknowwhatyouplanto
do.Obeyalltrafcrulesandregulations.
–Neveroperatevehicleinornearanareawherethere
isdustorfumesintheairwhichareexplosive.The
electricalandexhaustsystemsofthevehiclecan
producesparkscapableofignitingexplosivematerials.
–Ifeverunsureaboutsafeoperation,stopworkand
askyoursupervisor.
•DonotuseacabonaWorkmanvehicleequippedwith
aspraysystem.Thecabisnotpressurizedandwillnot
provideadequateventilationwhenusedwithasprayer.
Thecabwillalsooverloadthevehiclewhenthespray
systemtankisfull.
•Donottouchengine,transaxle,muferormufer
manifoldwhileengineisrunningorsoonafterithas
stoppedbecausetheseareasmaybehotenoughtocause
burns.
•Ifthemachineevervibratesabnormally,stopimmediately,
turnengineoff,waitforallmotiontostopandinspectfor
damage.Repairalldamagebeforeresumingoperation.
•Beforegettingofftheseat:
–Stopmovementofthemachine.
–Shutengineoffandwaitforallmovementtostop.
–Setparkingbrake.
–Removekeyfromignition.
Note:Blockwheelsifmachineisonanincline.
•Lightningcancausesevereinjuryordeath.Iflightning
isseenorthunderisheardinthearea,donotoperate
themachine;seekshelter.
Braking
•Slowdownbeforeyouapproachanobstacle.Thisgives
youextratimetostoporturnaway.Hittinganobstacle
candamagethevehicleanditscontents.Moreimportant,
itcaninjureyouandyourpassenger.
