Subject: Conveyor Belt slippage and Roller Shaft breakage.
Continuing to adjust a tight conveyor belt to prevent slippage due to heavy wet sand or
other demanding material handling conditions, may cause a belt to become over
tightened. An over tightened belt may break the roller shaft welds, which will eventually
result in no movement of the roller shell or conveyor belt.
To help control the tendency to over tighten the conveyor belt and improve the
performance of the Topdresser in demanding material handling conditions (e.g. wet
sand), Spring Tension Kit (95-0108) and Textured Drive Roller (92-4354) are available
to upgrade machines listed in the serial range above.
Spring Tension Kit (95-0108) utilizes springs to preload the belt to eliminate accidental
over tightening of a slipping conveyor belt. If a Spring Tension Kit is installed, Textured
Drive Roller (92-4354) is required to provide additional traction between the roller and
drive belt. Parts are available through your local Toro distributor.
NOTE:
As an alternative to ordering a new drive roller, the existing drive roller can be modified
by painting the roller surface with GLIDDEN
®
Texture Paint AS-150. Other brands of
texture paint may wear quickly or have poor adhesion capabilities. This product is not
available from The TORO Company.
