Subject: Wheel Motor Hub replacement.
The design of retaining the Wheel Hub to the Hydraulic Wheel Motor Shaft has been
changed from a slotted hex nut/cotter pin connection to a Pack Nut. As the Pack Nut is
tightened to 220-250 ft-lb (31-34 Kgm), the forces generated could cause the Wheel
Hub to fracture and detach from the shaft.
If a unit within the serial number range above experiences a fractured hub, it should be
replaced with Hub (01-269-2040). Replacement hubs have a stronger material to
withstand the forces generated by the higher torque requirements of the Pack Nut.
Replacement parts are available through your local Toro distributor.
NOTE:
Install the Pack Nut with the letters OUT facing away from the motor (see drawing
below). Tighten the Pack Nut to 220-250 ft-lb (31-34 Kgm).
