2.Beforeaddingmaterialintohopper,drivethe
tractionunitandtopdressertocheckthatthe
beltmovessmoothly.

LoadingtheHopper
•Themaximummaterialvolumeofthehopperis
0.7m³(25ft³).
•Generally,drysandweighs1602kg/m³(100lb/ft³)
andwetsandweighs1922to2082kg/m³(120to
130lb/ft³).Youwilloverloadthemachineifmore
than930kg(2050lb)ofsandisloadedintothe
hopper.
•Positiontheweightoftheloadevenlyfromfrontto
rearandevenlyfromsidetoside.
•Transportingortopdressingwithafullloadcan
causeshiftingofthesand.Thisshiftinghappens
mostoftenwhileturning,goingupordown
hills,suddenlychangingspeedsorwhiledriving
overroughsurfaces.Shiftingloadscanlead
totip-overs.Usecautionwhentransportingor
topdressingwithafullload.
•Heavyloadsincreasestoppingdistanceand
reduceyourabilitytoturnquicklywithouttipping
over.
SandApplicationRate
Therateofsandapplieddependsonthegate
setting.Sandvariesinmoistureandcoarseness
(sizeofgrain),whicheffectstheapplicationrate.
Thesefactorsmustbetakenintoconsideration
whendecidingtheamountofsandrequiredforthe
application.Testasmallareatodecidethecorrect
amount.T oincreaseapplicationrateopengatetoa
higherscalemark.
Themachineisgrounddrivenwhichassures
consistentapplication,fromgreentogreen,when
towingthemachineat3.2to13kph(2to8mph).
SandPrecautions
Themachineisequippedwithaexiblegateedge
(Figure12)andaspringreleasemechanismtoreduce
thechanceofsandchunksorrocksgettinglodged
duringoperation.Toensurelongbeltlife,siftorcheck
thesandforrockswithsharpedgesthatmaydamage
conveyorbelt.
