Transportingortopdressingwithafullload
cancauseshiftingofthesand.Thisshifting
happensmostoftenwhileturning,goingupor
downhills,suddenlychangingspeedsorwhile
drivingoverroughsurfaces.Shiftingloadscan
leadtotipovers.Usecautionwhentransporting
ortopdressingwithafullload.
Heavyloadsincreasestoppingdistanceand
reduceyourabilitytoturnquicklywithout
tippingover.
SandApplicationRate
Therateofsandapplieddependsonthegatesetting.
Sandvariesinmoistureandcoarseness(sizeofgrain)
whicheffectstherate.Thesefactorsmustbetaken
intoconsiderationwhendecidingtheamountofsand
requiredfortheapplication.Testasmallareatodecide
thecorrectamount.Toincreaseapplicationrateopen
gatetoahigherscalemark.
TheTopDresser2500isgrounddrivenwhichassures
consistentapplication,fromgreentogreen,when
towingspeediswithintherecommended2-8mph..
SandPrecautions
TheTopdresser2500isequippedwithaexiblegate
edge(Figure10)andspringreleasemechanismto
reducethechanceofsandchunksorrocksgetting
lodgedduringoperation.Toinsurelongbeltlife,siftor
checksandforrockswithsharpedgesthatmaydamage
conveyorbelt.

ColdWeatherOperation
Althoughlimitedbytractionofdrivetires,the
Topdresser2500maybeusedincoldweather,with
certainlimitations,toapplyasalt/sandmixtureon
pavementforicecontrol.ThePVCconveyorbelt
materialbecomesverystiffincoldweatherandrequires
morepowertooperatebelt.Thelifeofthebeltis
reducedbyapproximately50%whenoperatedbelow
temperaturesof40degreesF.(5degreesC.).Under
noconditionsshouldthetopdresserbeoperated
belowtemperaturesof20F .degrees(-7degrees
C.).
