AddingWatertotheBattery
Thebesttimetoadddistilledwatertothebatteryisjust
beforeyouoperatethetractionunit.Thisletsthewater
mixthoroughlywiththeelectrolytesolution.
Batteryelectrolytecontainssulfuricacidwhich
isadeadlypoisonandcausessevereburns.
Donotdrinkelectrolyteandavoidcontact
withskin,eyesorclothing.Wearsafety
glassestoshieldyoureyesandrubbergloves
toprotectyourhands.
Fillthebatterywherecleanwaterisalways
availableforushingtheskin.
1.Cleanthetopofthebatterywithapapertowel.
2.Removethellercapsfromthebattery(Figure29).
3.Slowlypourdistilledwaterintoeachbatterycell
untiltheelectrolytelevelisuptotheUpperline
(Figure29)onthebatterycase.
Important:Donotoverllthebatterybecause
electrolyte(sulfuricacid)cancausesevere
corrosionanddamagetothechassis.
4.Installthebatteryllercaps.
ChargingtheBattery
Chargingthebatteryproducesgassesthatcan
explode.
Neversmokenearthebatteryandkeepsparks
andamesawayfrombattery.
Important:Alwayskeepthebatteryfullycharged
(1.260specicgravity).Thisisespeciallyimportant
topreventbatterydamagewhenthetemperatureis
below32°F(0°C).
1.Checktheelectrolytelevel;refertoChecking
ElectrolyteLevel.
2.Removethellercapsfromthebatteryandconnect
a3to4ampbatterychargertothebatteryposts.
Chargethebatteryatarateof4amperesorlessfor
4hours(12volts).Donotoverchargethebattery.
3.Installthellercapsafterthebatteryisfullycharged.

BlowerBelt
ServiceInterval:Aftertherst8hours
Every50hours
Makesurebeltisproperlytensionedtoensureproper
operationofthemachineandunnecessarywear.
1.Removeboltandnutsecuringtensionerguideto
blowerframe(Figure30).Belttensionwillbe
releasedwhenboltisremoved.
