Handle Handle Bracket INSTALLING TINES (Fig. 2) 1. Start at the outside casting and install the tines as shown.
BEFORE OPERATING CHECK TIRE PRESSURE 1. Check fire pressure before each use. Maintain tire pressure at 60 PSL CHECK ENGINE OIL The Briggs engine is shipped with 1-1/4 pints of cil in the crankcase; however, level of oil must be checked before and after the engine is first started. 1. Position machine on a level surface. 2. Remove dipstick and wipe it with a clean rag. Push dipstick down into dipstick tube and make sure it is seated fully. Pull dipstick out and check level of oil.
CONTROLS LIFT HANDLE (Fig. 3} The lift handle controls the tine shaft engagement and the depth of the tines. There are two positions for the lift handle: A. Transport Position: Used to transport the unit. The tines are out of the ground and not rotating. The lift handle must be pulled back until it locks over center. 8. Engaged position: Pushing the handle forward allows the front wheels to pivot causing the tines to start turning and to aerate the ground at the same time. IDLER LEVER (Fig.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Make sure the unit is in the transport position; the Lift Handle is pulled back against the Handle. 2. Start engine and run at a low RPM. 3. Run engine to full RPM. 4. Engage the Tidier Lever to begin tine shaft rotation. 5. Push forward on the Lift Handle to lower the unit to operating position. LUBRICATION BEARINGS (Fig. 4) The aerator has six self sealing bearings that must be lubricated with a No. 2 Lithium based grease.
MAINTENANCE CHAIN TENSION (Fig. 5) The chain tension is adjusted by moving the idler sprocket up and down on the slot it is mounted. A 1/8° deflection is recommended. Do not over tighten; this will cause chain wear. Do not operate with a loose chain; this will cause sprocket wear. BELT TENSION (Fig 6) The belt deflection when engaged should be 1/4" with 5 1bs. of force. To decrease tension, move the adjusting nuts down; upward to increase tension.
MAINTENANCE (Continued) TINE WEAR (Fig. 7) To obtain maximum aerating performance always check the tines for wear before every uss. Severely worn tines are easy to bend or break and will Eave the cores in the ground. See Fig. 7 for examples of tine wear. Airways clean cores out of tines before storage. Cores left in tines for extended periods can cause pitting on the inside of the tine. The pits in the tine keep the core from ejecting. 12 Needs To Be Replaced.
